John's 2!

Yup! The little one's T-W-O! It still feels like yesterday this little one appeared and turned our world upside down. We've had our fair share of ups and downs, laughter and tears, but I can say for both James and I that we wouldn't trade a moment of it. Given a choice to live these 2 years again, yes we would have done one or two things differently, but I believe everything happens for a reason and now I feel much better equipped to handle our next one, or two... or three? :)

I always say that birthdays are not just a celebration of our kids having lived for x number of years; it's also a celebration of us bring parents for x number of years. As a mum, I've had the privilege of learning so much about the heart of God, lessons I would not have had the opportunity of gaining from had I not been a mom. Everyday God reveals bits about Himself as I watch my little one grow, hit his milestones, experience the pains and pleasures of life. I can only say I wish this for everyone - that they may realise how much God loves by being a parent.

This year we decided for various reasons to have a really small do for the little one. We had family over for tea and the 10 of us sat around our dining table chatting about John over bread, pate, ham and chips - totally my kinda meal! :) Then we took out John's special Chuggington Brewster 3D cake, baked with love by my good friend Chris. John was ecstatic and absolutely loved it when we sang the birthday song. He even attempted to blow his candle (something I had been "training" him to do for a while).

We then opened presents, one of which was a little drum set from grandma. Daddy and Uncle Aaron promptly assembled the set and the little one was drumming away! He does have a good sense of rhythm, which of course would be pleasing to mummy and Uncle Aaron. :)

All assembled!

The day after we headed off for church camp and John managed to celebrate his actual birthday in Batam with the rest of the church. Pictures of that coming up soon.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY JOHN!
We love you with all our hearts and we pray you will grow to be a man after God's heart. May you come to know our Lord Jesus intimately very soon and ultimately fulfill the purposes God has set out for you. We look forward to this next year of yours and all that it has to offer, both for you and for us.
Hugs and kisses... Daddy & Mummy.
